§ 2.03.020. Responsibilities.

  • The responsibilities of the department shall be to:

    (a)

    Process complete applications for business, liquor, and gaming licenses;

    (b)

    Renew, when appropriate, business, liquor, and gaming licenses;

    (c)

    Collect application fees, licensing fees, and other related fees required for licensure and/or renewal of a license;

    (d)

    Investigate or refer applicants for regulated and privileged licenses to the LVMPD or other investigating authority;

    (e)

    Inspecting the premises of proposed and existing businesses, to ensure compliance with the licensing provisions of the Clark County Code, state statutes, and all other licensing laws, ordinances, rules and regulations adopted by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board;

    (f)

    Investigate complaints of alleged licensing violations;

    (g)

    Enforce the licensing provisions of the Clark County Code, state statutes, and all other licensing laws, ordinances, rules and regulations adopted by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board;

    (h)

    Audit licensed businesses to ensure that all fees are paid and to ensure compliance with the licensing provisions of Clark County Code and state statutes, and all other licensing laws, ordinances, rules and regulations adopted by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board;

    (i)

    Schedule regulated and privileged license applications for consideration by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board;

    (j)

    Prepare and process agendas for all regular and special meetings of the liquor and gaming licensing board and agenda items for the board of county commissioners related to the responsibilities delineated by Clark County Code and state statutes;

    (k)

    Perform staff functions for the board of county commissioners and the liquor and gaming licensing board as they relate to the responsibilities of Clark County Code and state statutes, and all other licensing laws, ordinances, rules and regulations adopted by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board;

    (l)

    Promulgate administrative procedures, ordinances, rules and regulations, necessary and appropriate to carry out the department's responsibilities;

    (m)

    Administer and process required bonds and insurance pursuant to Clark County Code; and

    (n)

    Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the board of county commissioners and/or the liquor and gaming licensing board or as delineated in Clark County Code and state statutes.
