§ 8.40.120. Grounds for nonrenewal or revocation of license.

  • Any license issued under the provisions of the chapter shall be subject to suspension or revocation by the licensing board or emergency suspension by the director of business license for any failure of such licensee, his agents or servants or employees to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter or if the business is operated in a manner which is contrary to the health, welfare, safety or morals of the community or the teenage patrons or if it admits persons under the age of fifteen years.

    A license issued to any applicant under the provisions of this chapter shall not be renewed, or shall be subject to emergency suspension or revocation as the case may be, if such licensee maintains or carries on his business in any building or structure which is structurally unsafe or not provided with adequate egress, or which constitutes a fire hazard, or which is otherwise dangerous to human life or safety, or which is in relation to existing use constitutes a hazard to safety or health, or public welfare, by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, obsolescence, or abandonment; or if such business is a nuisance, a menace to the public health or detrimental to the peace and morals of the county.

    The director of business license shall not issue a new license or renew an existing license to any applicant to operate a business in any building location that has been determined by the building and zoning department to be an unsafe building, but shall refer such application to the licensing board for appropriate action.
