§ 2.73.020. Appointment, qualification and powers of director.

  • There shall be a director who shall be appointed by the county manager and ratified by a majority vote of the board of county commissioners. The audit director shall serve, for an indefinite period of time, at the pleasure of the county manager. If the audit director is removed from office, the county manager shall report this fact and the reasons for the removal to the board of county commissioners.

    The audit director shall be knowledgeable in performance and financial auditing, public administration, and government financial and fiscal practices. The audit director shall possess adequate professional proficiency for the job, demonstrated by a CPA (certified public accountant) certification with more than five years experience in the field of government auditing, evaluation or related field. The audit director shall have a bachelor degree in accounting, business administration, or public administration or related field.

    The Clark County audit department will be directed, administered and supervised by the director of the audit department. The director will be empowered to assert administrative and policy making authority over the department in accordance with applicable provisions of this code and state law. The audit director shall not be directly involved in political activities of the county of Clark elected offices.
