§ 2.40.120. Residency—Proof of compliance with state motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws.

  • (a) Every permanent employee of the county shall, within ninety days of the date of initial employment, establish and maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County. Principal place of residency shall mean "actual residence" as provided in NRS 281.050. This subsection shall apply to all permanent employees of the county hired after July 17, 2007.

    (b)

    (1)

    Every permanent employee of the county hired after January 1, 2009, shall, within the same ninety-day period, provide proof that he has obtained a Nevada driver's license pursuant to Chapter 483 of the Nevada Revised Statutes and that he has registered in Nevada any motor vehicle that he owns in the manner required by Chapter 482 of the Nevada Revised Statutes.

    (2)

    An employee who does not drive in this state or who does not own a motor vehicle subject to the motor vehicle registration laws of this state shall be exempt from the provisions of this subsection. The employee must sign an affidavit of exemption that will be placed in the employee's personnel file.

    (3)

    In accepting employment with the county, the employee agrees that authorized representatives of the county may access the databases of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles to verify motor vehicle registration information and drivers' license information.

    (c)

    The county manager may, in individual cases, request a waiver of this section from the board of county commissioners.
