§ 8.20.287. Holiday restrictions on the sale of package liquor within the Las Vegas and Laughlin strip corridors.

  • (a) For the purposes of this section only, the following terms are defined as: (1) "Las Vegas strip corridor" means that area of Las Vegas Boulevard South between Sahara Avenue and Sunset Road, bordered on the east by both sides of Paradise Road (to Desert Inn Road), the western boundary of the Desert Inn Country Club (from Desert Inn Road to Sands Avenue), Koval Lane (from Sands Avenue to Reno Avenue), the area extending south from Reno Avenue (to Hacienda Avenue), and that area west of the boundary to McCarran International Airport (from Hacienda Avenue to Sunset Road), and bordered on the west by both sides of Industrial Road (from Sahara Avenue to Sunset Road) and (2) "Laughlin strip corridor" means that part of the unincorporated area of Clark County in the town of Laughlin on Casino Drive between State Road 163 and Needles Highway.

    (b)

    It is unlawful for a liquor licensee to sell any package liquor in any glass container which is fit for beverage purposes or intended for beverage purposes within the Las Vegas strip corridor between the hours of six a.m. December 31st and six a.m. January 1st and between six a.m. July 4th and six a.m. July 5th of each year.

    (c)

    It is unlawful for a liquor license to sell any package liquor in any glass container which is fit for beverage purposes within the Laughlin strip corridor between the hours of twelve noon on the last Thursday in the month of April and six a.m. of that following Sunday each year.

    (d)

    An exception to these prohibitions is the sale of package liquor in glass containers within resort hotels for room service whereby the package licensee delivers the package liquor directly to the room.

    (e)

    A special events permit shall be required for all retail liquor licensees desiring to provide retail sales of liquor at an outside service area, and whether on or off their premises, during any of the dates and in any of the locations described in this section. Licenses must apply for the special event permit with the department at least twenty business days from the date of the holiday special event. During the delineated dates and hours of the holiday special event, the licensee shall not permit any retail sales of liquor in glass bottles or containers as prohibited in this section.
