§ 8.20.065. Blind operators vending stands.

  • A person declared to be blind by NRS 426.041 or NRS 426.520 may be exempted from the license category and square foot requirements of Section 8.20.020 any may be licensed to sell package wine and permit the tasting thereof in vending stands upon the following conditions:

    (1)

    The blind operator is investigated by the sheriff and found suitable by the licensing board; and

    (2)

    The blind operator is approved by his/her application for a liquor license in conjunction with the vending stand program of the bureau of services to the blind division of the state department of human resources as provided in NRS 426.630 to 426.720 inclusive; and

    (3)

    The vending stand is located in an airport owned and operated by Clark County; and

    (4)

    The vending stand be equipped with electronic or mechanical devices which enable the blind person to see, or otherwise discern the identification and age of a prospective taster or purchaser of wine, or a sighted person or legally blind person still able to discern the identification and age of a prospective taster or purchaser of wine, who qualifies as a general manager be employed by either the blind person or the state of Nevada to guarantee that there is complete compliance with all county, state and federal laws.

    This vending stand is allowed as an accommodation to help blind persons with remunerative employment, and to assist the state department of human resources accomplish this statutory mandated responsibility. Continuous operation of the vending stand is not required when no blind licensee is available.
