§ 6.90.020. Definitions.

  • Unless the particular provision or the context otherwise requires, the definitions and provisions contained in this section shall govern the construction, meaning and application of words and phrases used in this chapter.

    (a)

    "Model" means any person who for valuable consideration:

    (1)

    Performs live or electronically or photographically recorded commercials; and

    (2)

    Is able, through ability and training, to meet technical requirements of a live fashion show in wholesale, salon, informal, and formal modeling before a clothing and accessories buying audience or television; and

    (3)

    Appears with, in, or around items of, or displays of, merchandise for purposes of promoting said merchandise, whether in person, by photograph, or electronic media; and

    (4)

    Appears at an event, occasion, happening or convention for the purpose of publicizing same, by handing out souvenirs, registering guests, demonstrating a product, being photographed with a product, or narrating the assets of a product. "Convention hostesses" are considered "models" within the intent of this chapter.

    (b)

    "Modeling agency" is a person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of securing assignments for models, and maintaining an office complex sufficient to conduct interviews with prospective customers, keep the agency business records, and provide for all operations of the agency and service to the models.
