§ 6.52.010. Definitions.*

  • As used in this chapter:

    PERSON. The term "person" includes any individual, firm, company, association, organization, partnership, and corporation.

    LICENSE. The term "license" means a person licensed under this ordinance and includes, but is not limited to, private detective, private investigator and repossessor.

    PRIVATE DETECTIVE. The term "private detective" or "private investigator" shall mean and include any person who engages in business or who accepts employment for hire, reward or fee to furnish and supply information as to the personal character or kind of business or occupation of any person or who engages in the business of repossessing personal property for hire or reward.

    REPOSSESSOR. The term "repossessor" shall mean a person who, for any consideration whatsoever, engages in business or accepts employment to locate or recover personal property which has been sold under a conditional sales agreement or which is subject to a chattel mortgage.

    REGISTRATION OF NONRESIDENTS. The term "registration of nonresidents" shall mean notification in writing to the sheriff of the following information: name, age, local address, permanent business address, local licensee associated with, display and proof of a valid license where the nonresident does business, and such other information, evidence, statements, or documents as may be required by the sheriff.
