§ 6.12.733. Motor vehicle sales master license.

Latest version.
  • A motor vehicle sales master license may be issued to any person selling new vehicles and conducting certain related activities. A person operating a new motor vehicle sales agency (dealer) may, under his/her license for such agency, conduct a used vehicle department solely in connection with such new vehicle sales agency (dealer) for the sale of used vehicles taken in trade by him/her for a new vehicle. The fee schedule enumerated in Section 6.12.995 of this chapter shall apply to the combined gross semiannual sales of such used and new vehicles. This license may include body shop, auto repair, vehicle towing, auto parts sales, emission control and/or vehicle (new and used) leasing when such leasing is for a term of more than thirty-one days provided such operations are under the same ownership and at the same location as the new vehicle sales business. Any car rental business activity (thirty-one days or less) would require a separate license. If the body shop, auto repair, vehicle towing, auto parts sales, emission controls and/or vehicle leasing is owned/operated by a person(s) other than the owner(s) of the vehicle sales business, then the person(s) responsible for such operation must have their own business license for such activity. For each motor vehicle sales master license, the semiannual license fee shall be determined by the amount of semiannual gross revenue as contained in the schedule of Section 6.12.995 of this chapter. Applicants who are involved in the sale of used cars must meet all the requirements of Chapters 6.28 and 7.16 of this code, including separate licensure.
