§ 22.05.030. Violation and penalties.

  • It is unlawful for any person to erect, install, alter, repair, relocate, add to, replace, use, or maintain buildings or structures in this jurisdiction, or cause the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of the provisions of this code. Maintenance of any building or structure which was unlawful at the time it was installed and which would be unlawful under this code if installed after the effective date of this code, constitutes a continuing violation of this code.

    Any person violating any of the provisions of this code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. Each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of this code is committed, continued, or permitted. Upon conviction for any such violation such person shall be punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Whenever in this code any act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor, the doing of any such required act constitutes a violation of this code. Any day of any violation of this code constitutes a separate offense.
