§ 10.28.060. Rabies suspect—Impoundment—Destruction.

  • It shall be the duty of the animal control officer to impound any animal found in or upon any public street or other public place, or in or upon any lot or premises, whether public or private, if such animal is known to have or suspected of having rabies, or known to have been bitten by any animal having or suspected of having rabies, and such animal shall be brought immediately before the health officer and a veterinarian for determination of whether the animal shall be destroyed or impounded. If destruction of the animal is required, destruction shall be accomplished in such manner as to preserve intact the head. Such head shall promptly and without delay be properly removed and packaged for shipment for laboratory analysis as prescribed by the health officer.
